Sto Canada Ltd. announces that the anticipated U.S. tariffs and corresponding Canadian counter-tariffs, further postponed this week, will not have an immediate impact on its products or business operations. After a thorough review of the newly proposed measures, Sto Canada confirms that it does not sell into the U.S. market and that none of the categories targeted by Canada’s counter-tariffs affect the small number of products the company currently sources from the U.S.
“As we continue to monitor this evolving situation, we believe these tariffs will be relatively short-lived and do not anticipate significant, long-term effects on either the construction sector or Sto Canada’s standing within the industry,” said Bob Storey, General Manager. “However, we will remain vigilant and prepared to make any necessary adjustments to our operations should circumstances change. Fortunately, Sto Canada is part of a global network of Sto companies that gives us many sourcing options.”
Sto Canada also understands the possible preferences to “buy Canadian” as a result of the current trade tensions. To this end we want to reinforce with customers Sto’s long-term commitment and investments in the Canadian construction industry. Moreover, Canadian manufactured products represent the highest portion of our sales, with only a minority currently sourced from the U.S. market.
